‘I could have eaten the whole of it’: Fans cheer Italy 2-1 win over Argentina

The final minutes of the first half was marred by a scuffle between players.

The Italian defence forced Argentina forward Angel Di Maria into an early foul on the edge of the area and the Argentina defender, who had been left stranded in the box, was penalised.

The second-half was interrupted by a loud clang when Di Maria collided with Argentina midfielder Sergio Romero, who was on the floor in the aftermath of the tackle.

The referee later said that the tackle was “not in accordance with the rules”, but the incident did not stop fans from chanting, “Cricket!


The final whistle was blown after a lengthy and intense match that had lasted more than seven hours.
